I know, I know. I’ve already made a Halloween post. This is the last one, I swear. It’s around the time where you pick out your Halloween costumes. If you’re anything like me, you’ve left it to the last minuet to decide what you want to be this year and you’re also broke. Have no fear, here’s a list of last minute ideas from films we know and love.
Charlie Chaplin’s “The Tramp”
Why it’s a good costume: Who doesn’t love the wacky antics of The Tramp? Charlie Chaplin may a little old fashioned, but this is a costume that will never go out of style.
What you’ll need: Some black grease/ black eyeliner (like this one from Wet n Wild). For clothes, you can do one of two things: Raid your Grandfather’s closet and find a baggy suit and huge dress shoes, or check out your local consignment store. Just be sure you top the look off with a hat and cane, otherwise you’ll look like Hitler…
Why it’s a good costume: Who could resist our beloved Jason Voorhees: The silent serial killer who likes to kill promiscuous teens. Bonus points: if you’re anti social as all heck at parties, then this is the perfect costume for you. Just be aware that this costume is probably not school friendly (because of the mask)
What you’ll need: This is another costume where checking out your local consignment store is probably a good idea. If you don’t have the time, you can just wear a dark T-shirt, jeans, a dark jacket, and some combat/work boots. And, of course, no Jason Voorhees costume is complete without his hockey mask (I’ve found this one on Amazon that’s fairly priced)
Why it’s a good costume: No one will laugh at you with this awesome costume (it was impressive enough for me to win my 5th grade costume contest). It’s a classic badass girl costume and an iconic character. Not to mention, it is so easy to do!
What you’ll need: Go down to your local consignment store and pick out a long pink dress. you can either wear heels or flats, whatever you’re comfortable in. Next, get some fake blood and go to town on the dress. Use the fake blood sparingly on your body and face. a blonde wig, corsage, and crown is optional. if you need help, take a look at this tutorial that covers all the basics of the costume.
Why it’s a good costume: She’s sassy, dark, and brooding; perfect for Halloween for girls of all ages. she’s an icon and a legend (as well as her mother Morticia). Not to mention, it’s a costume that takes very little time, effort, and money!
What you’ll need: a black dress with long sleeves and a white collar (like this one from Amazon), a black wig with two braids (like this one, also from Amazon) and any black closed toed shoes. If you want to accurately capture her look, check out this makeup tutorial to get the look.
